About Peugeot Frères
Long before the lion emblem became synonymous with automobiles, Peugeot Frères was a family-run steelworks in eastern France, founded in the early 1800s in the Franche-Comté region. What began as a modest forge evolved into one of France’s most respected manufacturers of precision tools and household objects, renowned for the quality of its steel and mechanical ingenuity. In the late 19th century, the company turned its expertise toward coffee grinders, crafting beautifully engineered pieces designed for durability and daily ritual. These grinders were not merely kitchen tools, but expressions of French industrial craftsmanship at a time when coffee culture was becoming an essential part of domestic life. Today, antique Peugeot grinders carry that legacy — blending utility, design, and a tangible link to France’s industrial heritage.
