An exceptional and highly collectible swedish art deco ceramic vase, designed and crafted at the renowned upsala-ekeby pottery during the mid-1930s. This specific piece represents a brilliant artistic collaboration between two of the factory's most iconic figures of the era. The elegant, spherical shape featuring striking geometric twin handles was designed by the celebrated female avant-garde artist anna-lisa thomson. The rich, hand-painted decoration is the famous "seka kaktus" pattern, masterfully created by the prominent decorator and painting master einar törning (1884–1941).
the vase features a semi-gloss black glazed body that provides a dramatic contrast to the vibrant, stylized cactus blossoms executed in warm shades of orange, pink, and green. The intricate details and contours are finished with real gold gilding, applied using the factory's historical seka technique.
the underside is fully marked with the impressed ekeby stamp, the model number prefix 3, and the official pattern code s.k. (seka kaktus). A magnificent statement piece of swedish grace/art deco design that rarely appears on the market in this immaculate condition. This piece has an attribution mark,
