The horse is constructed from wood with a gesso surface and traditional dapple grey painted decoration. It retains expressive glass eyes and is fitted with a leather saddle and reins together with steel stirrups, creating the classic appearance associated with traditional English rocking horses. Its generous proportions make this a particularly decorative example, measuring 53.5 inches to the top of the ears and standing on a substantial 5 ft 6 in long pine frame. Presented in good vintage condition and structurally sturdy. There are age-related knocks and marks, splits to areas of the gesso and some losses to the painted surface, all consistent with age and historic use.
