Substantially constructed from thick timber, the sign retains its original iron frame and raised cast iron lettering. Designed to be visible from either direction along a railway platform, the double-sided construction gives the piece considerable presence and makes it particularly effective when suspended or displayed within an interior. Originally produced for use on a Great Western Railway station platform, the sign survives with an attractive untouched appearance. The aged timber, weathered metalwork and naturally developed surface patina reflect its long history of railway use and contribute significantly to its character. An evocative example of early 20th-century British railway memorabilia, combining strong graphic typography with substantial industrial construction. It would make an impressive decorative feature for a residential interior, commercial space, railway collection or transport-themed display. Presented in original antique condition with surface wear and patination consistent with age and historic use.
