A louis xv period arbalète commode in marquetry of fine woods, dating from the 18th century. The quality of the cabinetmaking is exceptional for this magnificent piece. It opens at the front with three large, intricately carved drawers. The locks are original. The gilt bronze drawer pulls and keyhole escutcheons feature relief decoration depicting female figures in oval frames with ribboned knots. The top and sides are also inlaid. The whole rests on a curved and shaped stretcher. The four cabriole legs have animal-shaped finials (birds of prey grasping eggs). The entire piece invites admiration for the meticulous craftsmanship of its creation.
