The generously proportioned chair features a tall back incorporating a series of hand-turned oak spindles. Its substantial construction and large scale give the chair a commanding appearance while providing comfortable seating. The chair has recently been reupholstered in dark brown leather, finished with traditional buttoned detailing and brass studs. The deep brown leather complements the warm tones of the country oak and gives the chair a classic library or study appearance. The chair retains its original castors, an appealing surviving feature of its early 19th-century construction. A substantial and comfortable example of early 19th-century English seating, combining traditional turned oak craftsmanship with newly fitted leather upholstery.
