The compact panel depicts a traditional Orthodox religious subject, executed with the distinctive devotional character associated with early icon painting. The surviving polychrome decoration and naturally aged wooden surface give the work considerable historic presence and character. Its small scale suggests that the icon may have been intended for private devotional use, although its original context is not documented. Presented in antique condition with age-related wear, surface losses and patination consistent with a 17th-century painted wooden panel.
