This exceptional piece exemplifies the transition of Chinese weaving into the modern era, blending traditional motifs with the bold, open compositions favored by the Art Deco movement. It is a superb representation of antique rugs from the early 20th century, showcasing the technical skill and artistic innovation of the period.

The deeply saturated field, a striking shade of yellow, provides a dramatic canvas for the delicate, naturalistic sprays of blossoms. This intensity of hue places the piece among our most vibrant examples of yellow rugs, offering immediate warmth and depth to any interior space while maintaining a sophisticated, high-contrast visual appeal.

The design eschews traditional centralized medallions, instead featuring four elegantly placed, asymmetrical groupings of stylized peonies, roses, and small buds. These highly decorative floral rugs rely heavily on negative space to emphasize the beauty and movement of the individual stems, a hallmark of the sophisticated Art Deco aesthetic that valued simplicity over dense patterning.

Woven with luxurious, high-quality wool, the pile retains a wonderful sheen and softness characteristic of the finest period Chinese production. Given its dimensions, this piece functions beautifully as one of our highly sought-after small scatter size rugs, ideal for defining a small entryway, bedside area, or intimate reading nook, offering a potent splash of historical elegance.
