The circular top is particularly appealing, being fashioned from a single piece of mahogany rather than multiple joined boards. The timber displays attractive natural figuring and a deep, warm colour that highlights the quality and character of the mahogany. The traditional tilt-top mechanism allows the surface to be raised vertically when not in use, reducing the table's footprint and reflecting the practical ingenuity characteristic of Georgian furniture. The top is supported upon a finely shaped central pedestal enriched with carved detailing. Below, three gracefully formed cabriole legs create the classic tripod configuration, providing stability while giving the table an elegant and beautifully balanced silhouette. Its relatively compact proportions make the piece particularly versatile, suitable as a tea table, occasional table, lamp table or decorative accent within both traditional and contemporary interiors. Presented in very good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its 18th-century origin. A highly attractive example of Georgian cabinetmaking, combining quality mahogany, elegant carving and a practical tilt-top design. Dimensions: Height: 67.5 cm Width: 72 cm Depth: 71 cm See less
