Dating to the peak artistic era directed by superintendent chemist Cadmon Robertson (circa 1904–1914), this form features the pottery’s highly desirable and rare curdled matte "Peacock" glaze—a beautifully variegated, organic blend of rich midnight blue and mottled moss green.
The squat, rolled-rim form is perfectly scaled for mission-style mantels, sideboards, or low tables. The underside reveals the pottery's characteristic cleanly ground, unglazed white clay base ring. While the incised signature on the bottom is structurally present but exceptionally faint beneath the heavy glaze layer, the clay composition, shape profile, and unique glaze chemistry fully authenticate this as a classic, turn-of-the-century Hampshire Art Pottery example. Excellent structural integrity with no chips, cracks, or restorations. The interior features beautiful, inherent factory glaze pooling and minor firing pinholes from production. Light, superficial cosmetic scuffing/rubbing is present along the top ridge of the rim, exposing the white clay body beneath, consistent with age and careful handling over a century of display.
