Six footed egg cups, each with a warm gold-washed interior, a banded rim and a swagged garland detail, stand on a shaped tray with scrolling floral repoussé corners, a scalloped edge and ball feet.

An open carrying frame with a beaded handle rises from the center of the tray, and six matching egg spoons with floral handles hang from it between the cups, so the whole set lifts and travels to the table in one go. The underside of the tray carries maker’s marks and the number 4875.

The set shows the soft, lovingly used wear of its age and still has the presence of a good piece of table silver. Lovely for Sunday soft-boiled eggs, an Easter or holiday brunch, or a hostess gift for someone who likes to set a handsome table.
