Up for sale is a stunning, authentic mid-century modern mixed-metal pitcher handcrafted by the world-renowned Los Castillo workshop in Taxco, Mexico, circa 1950s–1960s. This highly collectible piece showcases the innovative design and expert metalwork that made the workshop famous globally.
The bulbous, hand-hammered body features a beautiful blend of silver-plated and copper-toned metals (Metales Casados / Married Metals). It has been left unpolished to preserve its magnificent, rich vintage patina and natural aging.
The true focal point of the piece is its remarkable sculpted handle, which forms a whimsical, crested folk-art bird perched on the rim. Both the bird's body and the outer spine of the handle are meticulously inlaid with a hand-fitted mosaic of vibrant green malachite and deep blue lapis lazuli natural stones.
