1960s Minimalist Chrome Acrylic Table Lamp, Paul Mayen for Habitat
Offered for sale is a Mid-Century Modern chrome and white acrylic cylindrical table lamp designed by the influential industrial designer Paul Mayen (1916–2000) of Habitat International (USA). The lamp was produced circa the 1960s–1970s and it features a minimalist, architectural, multi-legged polished chrome frame that cleanly holds a prominent, opaque white plastic/acrylic cylinder shade. It accepts a standard bulb and the color when lit will be determined by the choice of the bulb used. The lamp is in great condition with no issues.
Paul Mayén was an influential Spanish-born architect, industrial designer, and educator. He spent most of his life and career in the United States, becoming a prominent figure in the American Mid-Century Modern movement. He is celebrated for his minimalist, structurally clean approach to commercial lighting and furniture, as well as his deep historical connection to Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural masterpiece, Fallingwater.
