A hand-made French copper saucepan, sourced in Paris, with a long forged iron handle. The pan was made the traditional way: the side seam and the base are joined with interlocking dovetails (queues d'aronde) that were cut and brazed by hand, a hallmark of 19th-century French coppersmithing that gave way to machine-spun copper around the turn of the century. The hand-forged iron handle is secured with two copper rivets and ends in a hanging hook, and the straight-sided body has a hand-rolled rim.
The exterior has a rich, mottled patina from decades of use. Lovely hanging from a pot rack, on an open kitchen shelf, or used as a utensil crock or planter.
Please note: because the iron handle is heavy, the pan does not stand on its own; it tips backward unless it is hung, leaned against a wall, or steadied by something. It displays beautifully hanging from its hook.
Sold as a decorative antique. The interior tin lining is largely worn away and there is some verdigris near the handle, so it would need to be retinned before cooking.
Sourced in Paris, France summer 2026.
