The piece is a vibrant display of traditional Chinese craftsmanship.

Symbolism & Design:
The censer takes a tripod form, supported by two large, sculptural gilt bronze mythical birds (likely Garudas or phoenixes) on the sides, and a central leg.

The Body: The main vessel is decorated with intricate cloisonné enamel, featuring vibrant turquoise blue, red, yellow, and green floral and lotus motifs, all outlined with fine copper wire (cloisonné).

The Gilt Details: The lid, the bird figures, the central leg, and the rims are heavily gilded in bright gold. The domed lid features pierced openwork (for incense smoke to escape) and is topped with a charming finial shaped like a perched bird or phoenix. See less
