This is an exquisite pair of vintage Chinese bronze vases featuring intricate gold inlay (cuo jin) and silver-toned wire inlay work. The vases are crafted in an archaistic style, reminiscent of ancient Warring States or Han Dynasty bronze vessels.
Symbolism & Design:
The vases feature a classic baluster shape with a flared mouth and a bulbous body. The surface is richly decorated with interlocking archaistic dragon (chilong) and cloud motifs in gold and silver inlay. The necks also feature stylized geometric patterns (possibly deriving from ancient seal script or thunder patterns). The bronze body shows a heavy, authentic dark patina with areas of natural green oxidation (verdigris), contrasting beautifully with the bright gold and silver inlays. The rims and foot rings are also highlighted in gold.
