In Chinese culture, the monkey (hou) and elephant (xiang) are playful homophones for marquis (hou) and minister (xiang), making this piece a beloved symbol of career advancement, prosperity, and good fortune — traditionally given as a gift to scholars, officials, and businesspeople.

Handcrafted from solid copper with refined, intricate carving. The elephant is rendered with saddle ornaments and detailed surface texture, while the monkey sits astride holding an object in its hand. The piece carries a warm, aged patina that speaks to its years, lending a dignified, antique character perfect for an entryway, study, bookshelf, or collector's cabinet.

Solid and substantial with a pleasing heft, this figurine makes a striking statement in traditional, Asian, or eclectic interiors, and serves equally well as a meaningful gift.
