Measuring approximately 6 inches long, 4 inches wide, and 2.5 inches high, the piece has a softly undulating rectangular shape with shaped sides and a gently flared rim, giving it the appealing character associated with hand-finished French provincial pottery. We date it from the early 20th-century.

This unusual, highly decorative piece of French faience would be equally attractive displayed on a tabletop, bookshelf, or as part of a collection of French or Breton ceramics.

Condition: The piece displays overall glaze crazing consistent with age and use. There is a thin, approximately 3-inch hairline crack to one side, visible on close inspection. We have included two closeups of this. Despite the hairline, the piece remains an attractive decorative example and displays beautifully.
