This striking piece beautifully captures the fluid asymmetry and naturalistic grandeur of the Rococo tradition. Perfect as a focal point above a mantel, console table, or utilized as an opulent dressing mirror.
The frame follows a contoured arched silhouette, highlighted by an openwork central crest. The pediment features deeply carved acanthus leaf flourishes, C-scrolls, and a central stylized shell/plume motif that forms a classic rocaille composition. Sculpted floral and foliate sprays clasp the upper shoulders, cascading seamlessly down the shaped sides into elegant, low-profile acanthus-carved scroll feet. The entire frame features a hand-applied gold gilt finish that exhibits a warm, burnished tone with subtle depth and dimension.
The central mirror plate features a later-added, elegantly crafted wide beveled edge. See less
