Bring authentic pre-war luxury into your home with this stunning antique May 1940 giltwood wall mirror manufactured by the legendary Nurre Companies.
Designed in an elegant fusion of Louis XVI and Hollywood Regency styles, this statement mirror features a highly dimensional, deeply carved top crest showcasing a classic Prince of Wales three-feather plume flanked by flowing ribbons. The heavy, ornate open-work frame is beautifully detailed with cascading acanthus leaf borders along the sides and a sweet molded floral relief bundle anchoring the lower baseline. The original gold finish displays a rich, soft aged bronze-gilt patina that catches the ambient room light beautifully.
The reverse dust cover features the authentic, historic factory ink stamp reading: "7-NURRE 5-40", definitively dating this piece to May of 1940.
Dimensions:
36" W x 1.5” D x 33” H
Condition:
Great antique condition. The substantial wood frame is structurally intact with no missing plaster details or broken filigree. The original glass panel shows gorgeous, minor authentic age patina and light foxing spots near the top border, adding a highly desirable historic character that beautifully tells the story of its 86-year heritage.
