This exceptional late 19th to early 20th-century antique is a masterclass in the Aesthetic Movement's celebration of organic materials and fine Chinoiserie accents.
Built entirely from authentic, organically grown bamboo poles featuring distinctive natural node variations and a rich, heat-flamed "tortoise" patina.
The Bone-Capped Serving Tray, features a completely removable rectangular serving gallery tray wrapped in pinned bamboo rails.
Characterizing the finest execution of this style, every individual cut end of the bamboo stalks across the entire gallery is meticulously sealed with a hand-fitted bone plug.
Structural node joints are secured using traditional flush-pinning methods and further accented with matching bone structural dowel covers.
The tray base features an early, highly polished black japanned lacquer finish designed for parlor service.
The Base, rests securely upon its original, collapsible X-frame trestle stand integrated with a triple-rung structural bamboo stretcher shelf.
Very good antique condition, consistent with age and use.
