Woven in China using wool and cotton, the tapestry reflects the artistic influence of European decorative weaving, particularly the pastoral and architectural compositions associated with French interiors of the 17th and 18th centuries.
The central scene is framed by two classical columns with decorative capitals, creating the impression of looking through an architectural terrace toward an expansive country estate.
