This exceptional Chinese Art Deco piece, dating from the height of the 1920s, showcases a masterful blend of traditional Eastern motifs and Western modernism. The expansive field is rendered in a soft, luminous ivory color, providing a neutral canvas that allows the deep, saturated blues and vibrant secondary colors of the border to truly resonate.

The design employs an open composition, characteristic of the era, featuring stylized pagodas, weeping willows, and delicate blossoms scattered across the field. Unlike more tightly organized Persian carpets, this piece uses negative space to enhance the visual impact of the detailed, naturalistic elements. It stands as a refined example within the category of floral rugs, emphasizing elegance over density.

Woven with luxurious, high-quality wool, the pile retains a wonderful sheen and softness, indicative of fine early 20th-century craftsmanship. Its generous proportions classify it as a true room size format, making it ideally suited to anchor a formal dining area or a grand living room where its scale can define the space. The deep navy border frames the central design with sophisticated weight.

This rectangle Art Deco treasure represents a significant period of cross-cultural artistic exchange. Its excellent preservation and striking color combination ensure it remains a highly desirable acquisition for collectors.
