Beautiful, completed vintage cross-stitch alphabet sampler believed to be from the mid-20th century. This charming piece of handmade folk art features an alphabet string across the top and numbers 1-0 beneath a large basket of flowers and classic decorative motifs.
The sampler comes housed in a period style model wood frame with a painted dark edge exterior and an inner gold fillet accent under glass. Back of frame marked Charlbets Falmouth MA. The method in which the piece is backed (with archival or kraft paper secured with framing tape and the age of the mark is what predicts the age of the piece. The finished dimension is 14 x 1.75"D x 12"H. The interior fabric shows at 9.5"L x 7.5"H. See less
