Carved from solid wood, the seated figure is rendered in a stylized form with elongated limbs and a pronounced curling tail, giving it a whimsical, almost theatrical presence. Its expressive face, with a wide-open mouth and visible teeth, suggests a playful, lively temperament that draws the eye from across a room. The hand-carved details, from the fingers to the sweeping curve of the tail, reward a closer look. The original painted surface features an earthy palette of greens and reds, brightened by yellow accents at the collar and cuffs, and the figure rests on a flat, gently curved base finished with matching red and green detailing that keeps it balanced and stable. Standing over 34 inches tall, the sculpture has real presence as a statement piece. It makes a memorable focal point in a library, entry hall or living room, and pairs well with eclectic, tropical or Palm Beach-inspired interiors where a touch of humor is welcome.

The sculpture measures 20.25 inches wide, 18.5 inches deep and 34.25 inches high. It is in good vintage condition with an honest, well-loved surface. The original paint shows significant wear, chipping and fading consistent with age, with minor losses concentrated on the limbs and base, where the natural wood grain shows through. This patina adds to its folk art appeal. The piece remains structurally sound, with no visible repairs or restorations. An engaging, one-of-a-kind decorative object for collectors of vintage carved figures. See less
