A commanding Chinese lidded censer cast in patinated bronze, finished with silver-washed high-relief chasing across the body. The rounded bowl rises on three sturdy beast-paw feet, flanked by a pair of boldly sculpted dragon handles that curl upward from the rim.
The domed lid is pierced with openwork scrollwork to release incense smoke, and is crowned by a recumbent coiled dragon finial.
Around the body, densely chased sea-wave (haishui) patterns unfurl beneath a sinuous dragon rendered in deep relief — a traditional motif symbolizing power, good fortune and the threshold between earth and sky.
The silver-washed surfaces catch light against the darker bronze patina, giving the piece a rich, layered depth.
