An exceptional mid-19th-century Pennsylvania paint-decorated blanket chest, attributed to the Manheim region of Lancaster County, PA (circa 1840–1870). Featuring a striking orange and red "flame" faux-mahogany painted surface framed by black-painted trim and resting on turned bun feet.

Construction & Features

Cabinetry: Solid pine construction with fine, fully dovetailed corner case joinery.

Interior: Features a pristine interior with a native tulip poplar interior till (candle box).

Hardware: Retains its original cast iron hinges, steel lock, and keeper.

Decoration: Authentic original paint execution with undulating flame-grained feathering across the lid, front, and sides, punctuated by bold black moldings and turned bun feet.
