Pair hard-paste porcelain bulb pots with covers made by the Queen’s porcelain factory, Rue Thiroux, Paris, circa 1778-1793. This factory enjoyed the patronage of Queen Marie Antoinette. An identical example in the permanent collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London may be viewed on display in their galleries and online.
Elaborately hand-painted with floral bouquets enhanced by rich gilding. The flower frogs feature demilune forms; both with removable inserts having three holes on the tops. Marked underfoot with the crown A mark.
Each measures 9 1/4" wide x 4 1/2" front to back x 5 1/4" tall. Good condition - a small flake at the foot and rough edge at the back rim of one pot - does not detract.
