This exquisite example of 1930s weaving represents the height of the Art Deco influence on traditional Chinese design. Its deep indigo field provides a dramatic, sophisticated backdrop for the stylized motifs. We specialize in sourcing the finest antique rugs for discerning collectors and interior designers.

The saturated field color is a classic Peking blue, lending the piece a powerful, grounding presence. The expert use of this specific blue color creates a sense of immense depth, contrasting sharply with the light beige and soft secondary blue accents used in the scattered ornamentation and the detailed border.

The design features a delicate central floral medallion surrounded by asymmetrical sprays of blossoms and branches. These sparse, floating elements emphasize the vast expanse of the main field, a characteristic departure from the dense, all-over patterns common in earlier traditional weaving styles.

Knotted entirely in wool, the pile is soft yet durable, ensuring longevity and comfort underfoot. Given its substantial dimensions, this piece functions perfectly as a true room size anchor, capable of defining an entire living space while adding historical texture and sophisticated color. See less
