The bronze is signed by the artist and additionally bears the initials "EC" associated in the listing with the French foundry. The subject has been identified in the source attribution as possibly Marie François Sadi Carnot, President of France from 1887 to 1894. Bulio was a French sculptor born in Fabrègues in 1827 and enrolled at the École des Beaux-Arts in 1859.
