The substantial baluster-shaped body is decorated with dramatic scenes of a wild boar hunt on one side and a stag hunt on the other, surrounded by hunting hounds, oak branches, foliage and acorns. The sculptural decoration stands prominently against the warm ivory-coloured ground, with carefully applied glazes in shades of green, brown, ochre, grey and black.

Particularly distinctive is the naturalistic branch-form handle, which curves from the upper rim to the lower body, complementing the woodland theme. The jug has a gently flared neck, a shaped pouring lip and a rounded foot.

The Boar and Stag Hunt design originates from Mason's celebrated 19th-century relief-moulded pottery production. This example bears the printed Mason's Patent Ironstone China crown mark with England beneath, indicating later manufacture, most likely during the early 20th century.

A characterful example of traditional English decorative ceramics, combining sculptural modelling, intricate surface detail and a distinctive country-house aesthetic. Equally attractive as a collector's piece, displayed on a dresser or sideboard, or incorporated into a rustic or eclectic interior.

Condition: Good antique condition, with some age-related glaze crazing. No chips or cracks observed.
