The composition is executed with a delicate and restrained use of colour, combining watercolour washes with expressive ink work. The artist employs an impressionistic approach, capturing the character and atmosphere of the village with a light, spontaneous quality. The subtle palette and loosely handled details give the work an appealing sense of depth and movement while retaining the architectural character of the village scene. Presented within a silver-tone frame, the work is a decorative example of later 20th-century British watercolour painting and would complement both traditional and contemporary interiors.
