The design features an undulating, scalloped rim adorned with raised scroll detailing, combining rustic scandinavian tradition with refined mid-century elegance. The plates are finished in bo fajans’ celebrated antique crackle glaze (glaze code "ak"), presenting a soft, greyish ground detailed with hand-painted cobalt blue floral motifs and rim accents. With their shallow bowl form, they serve beautifully as dessert dishes, side plates, or arranged together as decorative wall plates. Each plate is impressed underneath with "bo fajans gävle" alongside hand-painted model and glaze designations "1084 ak", securely dating production to between 1935 and 1953. The primary style is swedish grace (also known internationally as nordic classicism), blended with folk art revival and rococo revival influences.key stylistic elements. Nordic classicism / swedish grace (1920s–1930s): during allan ebeling’s tenure at bo fajans in the 1920s, swedish decorative arts were defined by graceful proportions, restrained ornamentation, and subtle historical references. The stylized, clean lines of the central blue floral motif reflect this refined nordic aesthetic. Neo-rococo revival: the scalloped, gently lobed rim with molded volutes and scroll-like relief details draws directly from 18th-century scandinavian rococo tableware traditions. Folk art / rustic modernism: the cobalt-on-grey color palette paired with stylized botanical painting echoes historic swedish allmoge (folk craft) and traditional european delftware/faience, modernized into charming, functional 20th-century art pottery. A matching floral decor bonbonniere by allan ebeling from the same bo fajans series is also available in our inventory.
