Executed in the Gothic tradition, the panel features an intricate arrangement of interlaced roundels, scrolling geometric forms, and stylized rosettes, creating a richly textured composition that reflects the ornamental vocabulary of late medieval French woodcarving.

The deeply carved relief displays a sophisticated interplay of circular motifs and interweaving patterns, framed within a raised border that enhances the architectural character of the piece. The warm, dark patina developed over centuries highlights the depth of the carving and emphasizes the handcrafted nature of the work.

Originally conceived as part of an architectural or ecclesiastical interior, the panel now serves as a striking wall-mounted decorative object. Its age is evidenced by old woodworm traces, surface wear, and minor losses along the edges, all of which contribute to its authenticity and historical presence. These signs of age are consistent with a piece that has survived for more than four centuries and do not detract from its visual appeal.

with its strong graphic composition and rich patination, this Gothic oak panel makes an exceptional decorative statement in both traditional and contemporary interiors, appealing to collectors of medieval art, architectural fragments, and early European antiques.

Good antique condition with age-related wear, old inactive woodworm traces, and minor losses to the edges consistent with its considerable age. See less
