The curved steel frame and its webbing disappear entirely beneath the foam, leaving only a continuous silhouette.

olivier mourgue designed the djinn series in 1964-1965 for airborne. The name refers to djinns, spirits in muslim tradition capable of shapeshifting. Stanley kubrick furnished the orbital station in 2001: a space odyssey with them, thus cementing the series as the quintessential image of futuristic seating. One example is in the centre pompidou's collection.
