This exceptional Chinese Art Deco piece, dating from the 1920s, exemplifies the period's bold use of color and simplified design. Its substantial dimensions classify it as a true room size rug, ideal for anchoring a sophisticated living space or formal dining room.

The dominant field color is a magnificent, saturated coral, bordering on deep magenta, which provides a dramatic backdrop for the sparse ornamentation. This vibrant hue is characteristic of the finest Chinese rugs produced during the Republican era, offering an unparalleled visual intensity that makes it a standout among coral color rugs.

The design is elegantly minimalist, featuring a broad, unadorned central expanse framed by delicate, trailing vines and blossoms. These floral rugs elements, rendered in soft blues, yellows, and pale greens, contrast beautifully with the intensity of the field, while the subtle geometric border provides a nod to traditional Chinese labyrinth motifs.

Woven from high-quality wool, the pile retains a luxurious density and sheen, reflecting the meticulous craftsmanship of the era. This striking textile is a superb example of early 20th-century Chinese weaving that successfully bridged traditional aesthetics with modern sensibilities, making it a highly desirable addition to any collection of antique rugs.
