Vintage miniature ceramic vase designed by Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand, Sweden, dating approximately to the 1950s–60s. The softly rounded body narrows into a short neck and flared mouth. A muted green glaze is punctuated by pale spots, with a lighter rim providing a delicate contrast at the opening. The compact proportions and subtle surface pattern make this an appealing piece for collectors of Scandinavian miniatures. Display it individually or pair it with contrasting vase shapes to bring out its rounded form and soft color.
Gunnar Nylund (1904–1997) was a ceramic artist of Danish and Finnish parentage whose career spanned Denmark and Sweden. Born in Paris, he worked at Copenhagen’s Bing & Grøndahl and co-founded the pottery that became Saxbo before joining Rörstrand in 1931, where he served as artistic director. Known for his sculptural forms and richly varied glazes, Nylund created everything from miniature vases and bowls to large vessels and animal sculptures. His miniatures express that same attention to proportion and surface on an intimate scale and remain collected examples of Scandinavian mid-century design. His work is held in collections including Sweden’s Nationalmuseum.
