This striking vintage statue features a traditional Pixiu, a mythical creature in Chinese culture believed to attract wealth and ward off evil. Crafted from heavy bronze, the figure is divided into two distinct finishes: the head, mane, and paws are richly gilded in gold, while the body is adorned with vibrant cloisonné enamel.
The Pixiu is depicted in a crouching, alert posture with its mouth open. The gilded head is intricately detailed with swirling mane curls, bulging eyes, and sharp fangs. The body is decorated with a bright turquoise blue enamel ground, overlaid with a colorful floral and scrolling vine pattern in red, purple, green, and yellow. The base is polished gold and bears an engraved square seal mark containing characters. This substantial piece makes a beautiful decorative accent or a meaningful addition to a collection of Asian art.
