The design captures "Untitled" (1976), which represents Calder's final public commission, his largest mobile design, and the landmark inaugural exhibition for the museum's East Building. The artwork features kinetic design elements of wire and painted sheet-metal forms in red, black, and blue contrasted against a space-frame atrium ceiling grid. The piece is permanently housed in a custom, archival clear acrylic box frame with a recessed wood base and finished structural returns. Fabrication was completed by Jerry Solomon Enterprises, Inc., a custom picture framing company located on North La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles, California. The original professional framing label is retained on the reverse side of the assembly. The vintage acrylic box casing remains structurally sound with the rear hanging wire securely intact, displaying minor superficial surface wear, light scuffs, and a minimal amount of trapped dust/debris beneath the plexiglass face consistent with age and careful residential display.
