The composition depicts a young French woman rendered with a particularly subtle use of colour and careful attention to facial expression and detail. The restrained palette and softly modelled features give the portrait an intimate quality characteristic of post-war figurative painting. Rebierre demonstrates confident handling of the medium, combining finely observed detail with looser passages of brushwork. The sitter occupies the composition with a strong yet understated presence, making the work particularly effective as a decorative portrait. Presented within a distressed period-style frame whose aged appearance complements the character of the painting. The work is presented in good vintage condition consistent with its age. A light surface clean may further enhance its appearance.
