Executed in oil on canvas, the composition depicts a tranquil countryside landscape rendered with expressive brushwork and a restrained, subtle palette. The artist’s handling of colour, light and texture gives the scene a soft atmospheric quality characteristic of his landscape work. Born in Barcelona in 1936, Aguilar-Agon travelled extensively throughout Europe and spent time within artistic circles in Munich and Paris. He later worked from studios in France, Spain and England and exhibited his paintings internationally throughout his career. The painting is presented in a painted, intentionally distressed frame, complementing the character and palette of the work. Presented in good vintage condition, with minor wear consistent with age.
