The composition is executed with a subtle and expressive use of colour, employing a loose Impressionistic technique that gives the scene a particularly lively and atmospheric quality. Delicate variations of tone and fluid brushwork create depth while retaining the spontaneous character associated with traditional watercolour painting. The work is presented beneath glass within a wooden frame, which displays some light distressing and signs of age consistent with its vintage character. A decorative and engaging original watercolour, well suited to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
