The composition captures the expansive reservoir and surrounding landscape through a restrained and subtle palette, with softly handled washes creating a pleasing sense of depth, light and atmosphere. The work displays an Impressionistic approach, with the landscape rendered through expressive colour and fluid brushwork rather than highly defined detail. Presented beneath glass within a painted wooden frame, the work makes an attractive decorative landscape with a distinctly British character. A charming late 20th-century watercolour combining an identifiable Welsh subject with the artist's atmospheric treatment of colour and landscape.
