japanese wooden lunchbox from the 1960s–70s, featuring a warm reddish-brown lacquered finish and inspired by the traditional warigo-bako, a japanese box used for storing and carrying meals.

the rectangular box features gold-coloured japanese calligraphy on the front and a decorative kamon, a traditional japanese family crest, on the lid. The dark corner joints and visible wood grain give the piece an understated, refined character.

inside, a removable tray with three compartments sits above a larger storage compartment. This practical arrangement was originally designed to keep different dishes separate.

today, the box can also be used to store stationery, jewellery or other personal belongings. A characterful piece of japanese lacquerware that complements minimalist and wabi-sabi interiors.

good vintage condition with normal scratches, areas of wear and minor signs of use consistent with age. See less
