Executed in oil on canvas stretched over a wooden support, the composition is rendered predominantly in warm sepia and earthy tones, lending the work a softly aged and evocative character. The two figures occupy the foreground against a loosely rendered landscape, creating a classically inspired figurative scene. Of particular interest are the visible pencil outlines beneath portions of the painted surface, revealing elements of the preparatory drawing used by the amateur artist when recreating the composition. These details provide an appealing insight into the working process behind the painting. The work is presented as an amateur copy after Antoine Ferracci rather than as a painting by Ferracci himself. A decorative and characterful figurative painting suitable for both traditional and eclectic interiors.
