A letter opener from the French firm Christofle, model Caryatids, designed by the sculptor and goldsmith Jean Filhos (1921-2002). The handle is a small cast bronze sculpture with a silver plating: a group of intertwined nude female figures, with a very free-flowing modeling that almost seems to melt.
The blade is engraved with the greeting "Bon Noël 1974" and the signature Bouilhet, the surname of the family that ran Christofle for generations. This piece was the company's Christmas gift that year, hence the dedication and signature. Filhos's signature and Christofle's hallmark appear on the handle. This piece has an attribution mark,
