Model: C - also known as "Canadian"
Conceived in the spirit of Art Deco, this highly elegant and cleanly shaped armchair dates from the 1940s in Czechoslovakia. The authorial signature and unmistakable design of this armchair bear the hallmark of the prominent Czechoslovak designer Jindřich Halabala in production for the renowned UP Works. The primary artistic and structural concept stems from modernist principles of optical lightness, harmonious dynamic lines, and masterly craftsmanship of solid beech wood. The architectural structure of the armchair is built upon smoothly shaped, bent wooden armrests and subtle legs that support the comfortable body. The outstanding aesthetic impression is heightened by new professional upholstery in faux sheepskin, which gives the entire object a warm, timeless, and highly luxurious expression.
The item has undergone a complete, highly professional, and sensitive restoration combined with thorough professional cleaning and the implementation of new professional upholstery. Experienced restorers have thus successfully restored one hundred percent structural integrity and maximum visual appeal while preserving absolute historical authenticity, subtle patina, and the high collector's value of this unique piece.
Thanks to its renowned Czechoslovak origin, the prestigious authorship of Jindřich Halabala, and its timeless design, this armchair serves as a highly exclusive yet fully functional element in a modern interior. It stands out perfectly in a representative living room, a stylish study, a salon, or as a breathtaking design solitaire in a space emphasizing top-tier interwar and postwar era. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
