This vintage devotional sculpture is crafted from gilt bronze or copper and depicts the Mahamayuri (Peacock King) riding a peacock. The piece is designed in three distinct, removable parts: the main peacock body, the detachable deity figure, and the ornate, detachable flame-shaped halo (mandorla).
The peacock stands proudly on an octagonal base decorated with stylized, green-enameled lotus petals. Its wings are fully outstretched, and its body is detailed with intricate feathery textures and vibrant, cold-painted enamel accents in blue and red along the neck and wings.
The deity, which sits perfectly atop the peacock, is depicted in a seated position with its legs crossed. It has a serene expression and is adorned with a crown, necklaces, and armbands. The figure holds a small bowl in one raised hand and a leafy branch (likely a peacock feather or medicinal herb) in the other. The figure is seated on a red, lotus-petal seat. The intricate, golden halo behind the figure features a pierced, flame-like border and a central circular motif, framed by a red-painted outer edge.
