This large and substantial vintage sculpture is crafted from copper with intricate, hand-made wire cloisonné enamel work. The piece depicts a stylized elephant, often referred to as a "Peace Elephant" (平安象), which is a traditional symbol of peace and prosperity. The elephant's body is richly decorated with vibrant red enamel, featuring scrolling patterns and colorful floral motifs in blue, yellow, and white.
Resting upon the elephant's back and trunk are three large, gilded golden apples, symbolizing peace and safety. A gilded branch extends upwards, adorned with a blooming flower and two small, detailed golden birds perched among the leaves. The base of the elephant is heavily gilded, adding a luxurious contrast to the colorful enamel. The underside of the base bears an embossed, four-character seal mark.
