Vintage Boujad Rug | Handwoven Wool Rug with Red Cloud Medallion & Diamond Lattice
This vintage Boujad rug centers on a large, cloud-like medallion in deep brick red, its soft, irregular edges fading gently into an ivory field below. A vertical chain of diamond lattice shapes in navy, peach, and cream descends from the medallion, each diamond linked to the next in a rhythmic, unbroken sequence down the length of the piece. A solid brown border frames the rug, with soft fringe finishing the top edge.
Hand-knotted in wool by Berber women in the Boujad region of Morocco, this rug carries a more structured, lattice-driven composition than the tradition's typical loose abstraction, paired with the soft, cloud-like medallion that gives the piece real presence. The gently faded coloring and worn pile across the field are marks of genuine age, the result of decades of use and handling.
With its bold red medallion and connected diamond chain, this vintage Boujad rug offers striking pattern and authentic history for collectors and interiors that value handmade character.
Authentic Handmade Boujad Craftsmanship
Each rug is hand-knotted using traditional Boujad weaving techniques, in which Berber women build dense wool pile row by row directly on the loom. Here, the weaver combined a bold, freeform medallion with a more structured lattice chain â a blend of spontaneous color and considered geometry that reflects the range within Boujad's weaving tradition.
The soft fading, worn pile, and gentle irregularities across the piece are genuine marks of age and handmade origin, each one a trace of the rug's long history.
Ideal for Traditional & Layered Interiors
This vintage Boujad rug is well suited to living rooms, bedrooms, and libraries that want bold pattern and history underfoot.
Its brick red, ivory, and navy palette pairs beautifully with dark wood furniture, leather upholstery, and warm neutral walls, making it a strong fit for traditional, layered, and collector-minded interiors looking for a genuine vintage centerpiece.
